Grand Chief Daughter Babs Van Acker installs Karen Pizzolato as Chief Daughter of Pride of Scotland Lodge #265.

On June 30, 15 new sisters were initiated into the newly formed Pride of Scotland Lodge Lodge #265 by Grand Chief Daughter Barbara Van Acker.  The 15 new sisters are joined by 5 transfer sisters for a total of 20 members.  PCD Pam Green was appointed Grand Deputy to the new lodge.  16 Grand Lodge Officers and Past Grand Chief Daughters joined GCD Babs to perform the Institution Ritual and celebrate the new lodge.  Sisters also came from Ellen Douglas #8, Lady MacAlpine #70, Lady Craig Roy #211, Lady MacRae #218, Lady Lindsay #242, and Desert Thistle #260 to join the festivities.  The entertainment was truly a family event.  Trustee Nancy Strolle is very active in the Chicago Scottish Community and told us stories of her younger days with the sisters of Lady Edith Scott Lodge #121.  Nancy is also a Past President of the Illinois St Andrews Society, so she gave us history of that organization and the Scottish Home, which is where the new lodge will meet. We were treated to a performance by three dancers from the Thistle and Heather Highland Dancers, who were daughters of CD Karen Pizzolato, Conductor Jamie McGregor Earls and  Trustee Nancy Strolle.  Brian Green, husband of GD/Secretary Pam, piped for the officer installation and also played a set for us after dinner.

Hello! I am hoping that someone can answer a couple of questions I have. My grandmother, Ina Paton, was a member of your organization in Philadelphia (Lodge #66) in the 1940s. She received one of your lovely 10k gold/green enamel thistle pins on 11-3-1949 with the inscription " Presented to Ina Paton-Lady Cameron"... on the back. Do you know what that signifies? Do you also happen to know the company that manufactured the pin? There is a maker's mark of D & C in the back. This information is going into our family archives so that we can pass it down to our kids. Thank you for any assistance in my researching my family's Scottish roots. Kindly, Deborah Seitzinger
